Where can I find the modules .lzm?

http://www.slax.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17313

> where can I find thr modules .lzm?

"lzm" Modules is meant for Slax 6 which is currently still at "release candidate status" so the current official modules repository is only allowed to host "mo" modules which is meant for slax 5.

You have to convert the modules from "mo" to "lzm" using the "mo2lzm" command . For eg if you save "filename.mo" in /dev/sda2. Open a terminal or console.

  1. cd /dev/sda2

  2. Type "ls" to list the files in sda2

  3. Once you make sure that you are in the right directory and see the file "filename.mo" , then type "mo2lzm filename.mo filename.lzm"

This will convert the "mo" to "lzm" .

If you are lazy you can just rename the file from a mo extension to a lzm extension . Take note that the lzm file is smaller so there is some space saving.

No .mo module

http://www.slax.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=79870#79870

I found that the slax 6 series won't load any .mo module at boottime, only lzm modules.

No .mo module

to convert mo to an lzm, use

mo2lzm

Two editors please

http://www.slax.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17498

Could someone compile the following 2 editors for me please, for (slax6pre3)?

thanks

Two editors please

You can take these packages and convert them to lzm:

ftp://ftp.slackware.no/linux/slackware/slackware-current/slackware/ap/jed-0.99_18-i486-3.tgz ftp://ftp.slackware.no/linux/slackware/slackware-current/slackware/e/emacs-21.4a-i486-4.tgz

documented on: May 15, 2007, flux

Using fluxbox

http://www.slax.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=80292#80292

For use fluxbox perhaps you need kdm_fix.lzm.

Logout kde and choose in session fluxbox,if not start first time try again. You can add another desktops like afterstep or xfce see in modules slax and converted to .lzm then logout and choose in session. Default is kde.

fluxbox starts for me but is untested, xterm works and some entries but other not.I believe need customize for user.

Emacs

http://www.slax.org/modules.php?category=console&id=445&name=emacs

> When I try to run this on Popcorn 5.1.6 it doesn't find the fonts it
> needs.

I added the module Fixed_Width_Fonts_1_0_0.mo Then in ~/.Xdefaults I added the line: Emacs*font: fixed

Then I logged out and logged in (you could also do xrdb -m < ~/.Xdefaults) and now emacs works.

jganong

Emacs

the trick from jganong that adding "Emacs*font: fixed" does not work.

There are two resons for that:

  1. At startup time, xinitrc processes only .Xresources not .Xdefaults files.

  2. xrdb doesn't work because of lacking cpp. If you insist on using xrdb you have to use "xrdn -nocpp" which obviously isn't the case of xinitrc.

My bypass is having an executable emacs file in /usr/local/bin which do only one thing: launch /usr/bin/emacs -fn fixed.
