This is how I installed on my Debian:

download rpm from http://sourceforge.net/projects/tovid

$ fakeroot alien tovid-0.21-1.i386.rpm
tovid_0.21-2_i386.deb generated

$ sudo dpkg -i tovid_0.21-2_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 101480 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking tovid (from ...tovid_0.21-2_i386.deb) ...
Setting up tovid (0.21-2) ...

That's it. You are about to rock'n roll.
