Since he's running GNOME, Krusader might not be the best fm for him to use.
$ apt-cache search file manager | grep fm | sort dfm - Desktop-File-Manager for X11 emelfm - file manager for X/gtk lfm - a simple but powerful file manager for the UNIX console pcmanfm - extramly fast and lightweight file manager for X Window pcmanfm-fam - GPL'd lightweight file manager for X Window pfm - a terminal-based file manager written in Perl, based on MS-DOS PFM.COM vifm - a ncurses based file manager with vi like keybindings xffm4 - File manager for the Xfce4 desktop environment xffm4-icons - Icons for xffm4, the FM of XFce4 xfm - X file and application manager
Try pcmanfm first, since it's GTK 2.0, and then emelfm. Lastly xfm if you want to see the *cutting* *edge* from 1998 (and still darned useful, especially if you're box has 64MB RAM and is running fvwm).
