This font is very well-hinted for excellent appearance at just about all sizes. As you can see in the screen shot, it distinguishes well among all the various potentially similar characters, including I, l and 1, O and 0, as well as brackets, braces and parentheses. And the price is right! Andale, for Windows or Mac is available (free) from Microsoft's web site.
Monotype, Inc. has changed the name of this font from Monotype.com to Andale (pronounced Andale) and Microsoft has followed suit, but the font appears to be the same.

Charles Bigelow and Kris Holmes designed Lucida Console to be very good on screen. It is not a particularly "beautiful" font, nor was it intended to be, but, as you can see in the screen shot, it is very legible. On the other hand, I consider the new Andale (aka Monotype.com) to be as good and it is free.
